Understand the framework

Working in the ontology UI

Navigate levels, analytical chapters and screenplay scenes while following existing story elements.

Concepts, Storylines and Actions navigate the story model’s intent, structure and dramatic-action levels. In Actions (Level 2), chapter selection chooses the analytical context. The episode’s first active chapter shows an Action frames overview; individual Action frames remain document-wide.

The Seed appears in Storylines with the subtitle Frame. This interface label identifies the same Seed. Its inspector groups Upstream names, Contract fields and Realization relationships. Empty Upstream offers Reconstruct; Contract offers Realize.

Navigate Story stages #

Open Story stages after Storylines. Rails contain four checkpoints. Colors identify storyline routes; rounded connectors follow their progression across Action frames. Spacing shows order rather than duration. Scroll with the lower-right arrows, which disappear at the corresponding boundary.

Storylines opens a checkbox list. Hiding a route removes its color while keeping Action frames visible. The inspector control beside a storyline opens it without leaving the map. The selected Actions chapter highlights evidence without filtering.

Hover or focus a checkpoint for evidence. Right-click, press Shift+F10 or the context-menu key, press Enter, or tap to open the Action frame inspector. Escape dismisses a tip or panel. Unlike the read-only docs example, an editable document exposes editing controls.

Follow references to existing elements #

Select a node to inspect its content and connections. Later references reach the existing element in its owning chapter. Shared Action frames remain one element across assignments.

Screenwriters can follow a phrase’s shot realization to Level 3 material. When analyzing a book, review the source passage and Level 2 evidence directly.

Navigate a screenplay #

For screenwriters, use the full-width scene picker and previous/next arrows; Production scenes opens the manager. Scene order is separate from analytical chapters. A line’s three-dot menu creates or inspects a shot. A colored gutter marks assigned lines; hover or focus highlights the row.

The inspector has a color picker, Comment, Upstream links and Audience experiences. Audio direction has no editor, and Shot Direction remains a placeholder. See shot editing for controls.

Inspect before changing #

Check the document and selected element. Removing a stage assignment removes membership rather than the Action frame. Derived connections are read-only. Distinguish your draft, a generated preview and an accepted edit.

Keep the working context #

Read save and error feedback. Failed requests offer Retry; closing a panel does not confirm saving. If the document changed after a preview, request a fresh proposal against current state.
